Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group in South Bristol is recruiting an Estimator to join our Civil & Structural team. You will analyse drawings and specifications to prepare accurate bids for infrastructure and groundworks projects, with a focus on value engineering and risk assessment.

The role requires strong numeracy, Excel proficiency, and experience with estimating software, plus a relevant civil engineering or construction management background.

Qualifications

• A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
• Experience in site engineering, surveying, or junior estimating.

Responsibilities

• Tender Preparation: Analyse drawings, plans, and specifications to calculate total project expenses.
• Cost Analysis: Forecast costs for materials, heavy machinery, site labour, and transport.
• Subcontractor Management: Obtain, review, and compare quotes from suppliers and specialist civil contractors.
• Risk Assessment: Identify commercial risks, site constraints (such as soil stability or drainage), and value engineering options.
• Handover Support: Work with project delivery teams to ensure a smooth transition from winning the bid to on-site execution.
