Job summary

Amentum in the United Kingdom is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to contribute to multi-disciplinary projects involving reinforced concrete, plated steel, maritime structures and submarines facilities. Hybrid base locations include Warrington, Reading, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, offering flexibility and mobility.

You will design to British and Eurocodes, supervise project deliverables, manage budgets and schedules, and mentor junior engineers while upholding safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• Accredited MEng in Civil Engineering or Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer.
• Experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects with safety and quality controls.
• Knowledge of British and Eurocodes for design.

Job description

Each project is unique, but typically involves consideration of dynamic load effects due to extreme hazards, including seismic, blast, and impact. We have to look beyond code checks to get a deeper insight into structural response and failure mechanisms, considering ductility, nonlinear buckling, and soil structure interaction. Working things out as a team, starting from first principles, researching methodologies, challenging assumptions, thinking outside the box, and constantly learning. We work to the highest standards. Our complex analysis models are rigorously validated. Everything we do has to be fully evidenced and justified through independent third party review and ultimately to the nuclear safety Regulators. As a result, this is one of the most varied and challenging roles you can take on as a civil/structural engineer. Our multi million ponds long term infrastructure Improvements projects: include reinforced concrete structures, plated steel structures, maritime structures and specialized facilities for submarines . Designed from Warrington, Reading, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London which can be your hybrid base office. Responsibilities will Include:

• Inter-discipline project planning, delivery and financial performance
• Provision of technical quality and excellence of project deliverables
• Providing technical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior engineers and technicians
• Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems
• Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture
  Good all-round technical design expertise using British and/or Eurocodes
• Proven ability to manage projects and preparation of project deliverables, including managing quality, budget, programme and resources
• Good, accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or similar Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
