Job Description:

About the opportunity:

The Civil/Structural team in Defence Infrastructure specialises in solving the most complex and technically demanding structural engineering problems for the nuclear defence industry.

Each project is unique, but typically involves consideration of dynamic load effects due to extreme hazards, including seismic, blast, and impact. We have to look beyond code checks to get a deeper insight into structural response and failure mechanisms, considering ductility, nonlinear buckling, and soil structure interaction. We work things out as a team, starting from first principles, researching methodologies, challenging assumptions, thinking outside the box, and constantly learning. This role provides a fantastic career opportunity, whilst developing your skills and experiences under the guidance and mentorship within our central systems engineering team.

Take your existing skills and join our team, locations can be hybrid, nationwide with main office locations, Glasgow, Reading, Bristol, Warrington, Site visits are expensed and occasional.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Inter-discipline project planning, delivery and financial performance.
  • Provision of technical quality and excellence of project deliverables.
  • Providing technical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior engineers and technicians.
  • Developing good working relationships with clients and other company departments.
  • Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems.
  • Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture.

  • We’ll inspire and empower you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed - today and into tomorrow. We offer an exciting range of opportunities to develop your career within a supportive and diverse team who always strive to do the right thing for our people, clients and communities.

People are our greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent. In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships. We also give back to our communities through our Collectively program which incorporates matched-funding, paid volunteering time and charitable donations.

Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for us. We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business.
