We're large enough to compete head-to-head with publicly traded engineering giants, but still small enough to maintain the culture and flexibility of a close-knit team.Our size and hands-on management style let us move quickly, embrace new opportunities, and empower our people to shape their own careers?without getting lost in corporate bureaucracy.You're an ideal candidate if you have the:Ownership mentality that treats each project as if it's building your own home Adaptability to represent GEMTEC professionally with clients, developers, or contractors Strong written and verbal communication skills needed to convey technical ideas clearly Eligibility to register or are currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia Proven ability to manage projects Ability to obtain security clearance A typical day on the job might look like:Providing engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (ports, harbours and bridges) Working with diverse teams of discipline managers, engineers, designers and technicians Managing projects and being responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance Acting as a technical resource and as a mentor to junior/intermediate staff Writing, compiling and reviewing technical reports Preparing fee proposals Being a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design activitiesMaintaining quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined Preparing regular project summary reports Encouraging growth within the group and increasing the general knowledge base throughout the company Developing and sustaining long-lasting business relationships with clients Identifying and mitigating potential hazards in the field or onsite, promoting a safe working environment.
