We are recruiting an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join our newly awarded SSE team, ensuring we provide our client with the best value and working design solutions, while eradicating technical problems associated with substation design.
Distribution Network Operations (DNO), Structural Design, Structural Engineering, Temporary Works
We look to you and your expertise to ensure optimized and sustainable design solutions for our Distribution Network Operations (DNO). You will receive the client's brief, formulate the scope of work, and develop the design philosophy.
You will be responsible for a range of specifications, calculations, reports, and drawings for key projects, managing programmes to drive innovation and sustainability while prioritizing safety.
- Ensure appropriate pre-construction information is coordinated
- Review and prepare design scopes and programmes
- Prepare high-quality, efficient, and well-reasoned designs
- Undertake the role of Principal Designer where required
- Produce as-built reports and drawings
- Find and obtain service drawings and other relevant information
- Prepare survey plans and spreadsheets to assist during the design stage
- A solid understanding of engineering principles and experience in achieving value through innovation, along with excellent knowledge of CDM and computer literacy.
- Strong analysis skills and the ability to communicate clearly through sketching, drawing, presentations, and writing.
- A relevant engineering degree is essential; a chartership or working towards one via IStructE, ICE, etc., would be advantageous.
- Experience in permanent and temporary works design is required.
