Job description
Overview

Take the lead in global nuclear safety.

As a Civil Structural Engineer in our Nuclear & Power Division, you'll be playing a central role, creating spaces and places that matter. We have over 50 years in the sector and have delivered extensive workhours, making us a leading nuclear new-build organisation in the UK. This is a highly technical role with end-to-end involvement on a broad range of projects. You will be working a minimum of 3 days per week from a Power New Build office or client office.

We support flexible and remote working as part of our culture. Talk to us about what works best for you, including options like reduced weeks or additional leave during school holidays. If you’re returning from a career break, we can help you transition back into work with us.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a wide range of new build nuclear projects (including Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, SMRs and future fusion technologies) and develop strong working relationships with clients.
  • Work end-to-end on projects, collaborating from our offices and across client sites to understand needs and deliver to time, cost and quality.
  • Develop technical skills and management capability to deliver outstanding results for clients.
  • Engage with clients, mentor team members, and contribute to project leadership and delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant level of professional experience in civil-structural design and analysis (steelwork and/or reinforced concrete), research and development, project engineering or design consultancy.
  • Ability to undertake and/or review the design of new building structures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively from offices and client sites to understand clients' needs and deliver to time, cost, and quality.
  • Nearly or recently chartered with a recognised civil or structural engineering institution (IStructE, ICE or other) and interested in advancing your career with mentorship and exciting projects.
What you can bring
  • Opportunity to develop technical capability into a more specialist area and support a team on high-profile projects.
  • Curiosity and a questioning mindset to influence project outcomes.
  • Ability to digest complex problems and formulate concise, proportionate solutions.
At AtkinsRéalis you will aspire to
  • Develop technical proficiency in civil-structural engineering.
  • Contribute to world-renowned projects and utilise digital technology.
  • Innovate on projects, inspire colleagues, and impress clients.
  • Become a leader, nurture client relationships, and develop staff.
