Job summary

Elvet Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer for a civil contractor on multi‑million £ water infrastructure projects across South Yorkshire, with the initial £10m scheme near Sheffield and subsequent regional work under the Yorkshire Water AMP8 framework through 2030.

You will lead on setting out, RAMS, QA, temporary works and site coordination, reporting to the Site Manager, on projects ranging from £1m to £20m with varied civils scopes including

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on heavy civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of drainage gradients, rebar, shuttering/formwork and temporary works.
• Ability to support site management and supervise direct workforce.
• Experience delivering works for water sector clients is beneficial.
• Must hold CSCS and a full UK driving licence.
• Ideally hold an industry‑relevant degree/HND.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for deep drainage, manholes, concrete structures and tanks.
• Conduct site surveys and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Produce RAMS, permits and site documentation.
• SuperviseTemporary Works on site and update QA records.
• Coordinate with Site Manager and assist planning and safety systems.
• Monitor progress, quality and compliance on site.

Job description

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer on behalf of a reputable civil engineering contractor to work on multi-million £ water infrastructure projects across South Yorkshire.

The initial project (£10m) is located near Sheffield, with further local work across South & West Yorkshire to follow this.

Projects are all part of the Yorkshire Water AMP8 framework - running until 2030 with a constant stream of regional work. Projects will revolve around storm tank installs and water treatment work upgrades. With varied & interesting civils scopes including - shaft sinking, auger boring, pumping stations, in-situ concrete structures, deep drainage and more.

Each project varying from £1m to £20m in value. The Site Engineer will be responsible for all engineering works on site with some input from others on larger sites.

Duties:

• Setting out for deep drainage, manholes, concrete structures, tanks etc.
• Conducting site surveys and maintaining accurate engineering records
• Producing RAMS, permits and site documentation
• Supervise Temporary Works aspects on site
• Updating site paperwork, QA records and as‑built information
• Check shuttering and lead concrete pours
• Working in partnership with the Site Manager daily
• Supporting planning, sequencing and safe systems of work
• Monitoring progress, quality and compliance on site

Experience Required:

• Proven experience as Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on relevant heavy civil engineering projects
• Strong knowledge of drainage gradients, rebar, shuttering / formwork and temporary works
• Ability to support site management in supervision of direct workforce
• Experience delivering works for water sector clients (Yorkshire Water or similar) beneficial
• Must hold CSCS and full UK driving licence
• Ideally hold an industry‑relevant Degree/HND
• Any certificates like TWS, Lifting Ops, Confined Spaces are beneficial

Remuneration:

Salary up to £60,000 (DOE) plus:

Company car or allowance, fuel, annual leave, pension scheme and more.
