The Opportunity

Our client is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to support the Civil Works Programme, which comprises a series of projects to be delivered over a 10-year period. Each element of the scope has been assigned to responsible and accountable participants. The Civils Programme will deliver the Nuclear New Build Civil Engineering scope to support the Nuclear, Conventional, and Heat Sink islands.

Successful delivery requires excellent coordination and integration with other major programmes, including Site Establishment, Site Operations, and Mechanical / Electrical / Heating (MEH) Alliance.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  1. Take a global overview of the nuclear power plant Systems, Structures, and Components (SSCs) to maximize replication from previous nuclear projects and prepare for key contract awards.
  2. Ensure timely delivery of engineering studies by the RD or contractors, meeting project needs.
  3. Prepare specific post-FID contracts with the multidisciplinary team, including terms & conditions, contractual appendices, and technical specifications.
  4. Drive site-specific design changes into design deliverables and contract specifications for robust pricing.
  5. Manage internal and external interfaces to ensure coordinated design and delivery.
  6. Engage early with stakeholders to identify obsolescence issues and risks.
  7. Manage technical aspects of procurement for specific contracts.
  8. Promote lessons learned and knowledge capture as standard practice.
  9. Develop strategies and plans aligned with the programme execution plan (PEP).
  10. Define work scope and interfaces within contracts and across the programme.
  11. Drive contract activities to ensure safety, timeliness, budget adherence, and technical compliance.
  12. Ensure contractual requirements are fulfilled.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
  • Degree and Chartered status in Project Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, or relevant discipline.
  • Formal project management qualification, e.g., APM or PRINCE2.
  • Understanding of complex major projects and interface management.
  • Knowledge of project management and construction activities.
  • Experience managing major projects from concept to handover in complex, dynamic environments with high safety, security, and environmental standards.
  • Proven success in coordinating multidisciplinary design and procurement teams to deliver on time.
  • Background in civil engineering for large industrial plants.
The setting for the role

Risks and hazards include working on a nuclear licensed site, involving nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals, gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high-pressure circuits, steam, and high noise/vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided; safety requirements must be strictly followed.
