Job description

Civil Project Engineer - Newcastle

  • Location: Newcastle, United Kingdom (2 days/week onsite, rest remote)
  • Rate: £400 - £500 per day (outside IR35, D.O.E)
  • Duration: 3 months minimum (likely extension with further projects)
  • Start date: ASAP / April 2025

Turner Lovell are recruiting a proactive and organised Civil Project Engineer to support the coordination and delivery of civil and design activities on renewable energy projects throughout the UK.

Our client is a leading engineering contractor managing various civil scopes on renewable energy projects including transformer replacements, enabling works - drainage and ducting works, civil structural building extensions, and demolition works. The focus is shifting to coordination, interface management, and keeping design deliverables on schedule.

This role will suit a detail-oriented and assertive individual with experience managing multi-disciplinary workflows and document control processes. The successful candidate will interface daily with internal design teams, external civil consultants, and the end client to ensure information is flowing and actions are being driven forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage design workflows through project management and document control platforms (e.g. Procore, Aconex, Oracle, Viewpoint), and maintaining a consolidated tracker.
  • Attend design and programme review meetings with consultants, contractors, and clients - capture key actions and follow up with relevant teams.
  • Interface with civil design consultants to ensure technical interfaces are properly captured and coordinated.
  • Support validation of external consultant payment certificates.
  • Track construction issues such as drainage, ducting, staged strip-out, and transformer replacements.
  • Work closely with a small, focused internal team (2-3 colleagues) and external stakeholders to ensure programme progress.

Requirements:

  • Experience managing document control and design coordination on infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong Excel and tracking tool skills.
  • Familiarity with Aconex, Viewpoint, or similar systems.
  • Substation experience beneficial.
  • Background in project management or coordination.
  • Confident communicator - able to "push" to drive progress rather than react.
  • Basic understanding of civil design and construction workflows.
  • Based within travel distance of Newcastle (2 days/week onsite).

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a live energy project and play a critical role in helping design and site teams stay aligned and on programme. If you're someone who enjoys getting stuck in, driving results, and managing complex project workflows - we want to hear from you.

The role is suited to an individual located in/near NE England. If this sounds like it could be your next assignment, are available ASAP, and want to get involved in large energy projects, please apply or contact Maddie Jacob for further information: madeleine.jacob@turnerlovell.com / 0207 448 1100
