Job summary

Comex 2000 is seeking a Civil Operative to help build the UK's digital backbone. You will lay groundwork for connectivity, install ducts and cabinets, and operate heavy machinery in a field role.

You will also be responsible for reinstating highway surfaces, completing paperwork, and maintaining health and safety standards while representing the company to clients and teammates.

Qualifications

• A valid UK driving license is required and you will be on the move connecting communities.
• Proven street works skills and confidence working on the public highway.
• Industry-recognised qualifications essential: NRSWA Units 1-9, CSCS, CPCS (Mini Digger).

Responsibilities

• Laying the groundwork for connectivity by installing ducts, chambers and cabinets and related equipment.
• Clearing blockages in the highway and reinstating surfaces to industry standards with proper detail.
• Operating heavy machinery (e.g., mini digger, rollers, trench compactors) with required certifications.
• Preparing for connection by installing draw ropes to customer premises and ensuring smooth installations.
• Completing accurate daily paperwork: job sheets, risk assessments, plant/van checks.
• Maintaining health and safety through risk assessment and hazard identification.
• Taking care of company assets and kit assigned to you.
• Representing Comex 2000 professionally with customers and internal teams.
• Following client processes and procedures in daily work.

What will you bedoing? You'll be:

• Laying thegroundwork for connectivity: Installing newducts, chambers, and cabinets, along with all the associatedequipment.
• Clearing the pathfor progress: Tackling blockagesin the highway and expertly reinstating surfaces toindustry standards, capturing all the essentialdetails.
• Operatingheavy-duty heroes: Becoming proficientin using Stihl Saws, Wacker plates, trench compactors,mini diggers, and jackhammers (with the rightcertifications, of course!).
• Preparing forconnection: Installing new drawropes to customer premises, ensuring a smooth installationprocess.
• Keeping it alldocumented: Completing accuratepaperwork for your daily tasks, including job sheets, riskassessments, and plant/van checks.
• Being a safetychampion: Applying yourknowledge of risk assessment and hazard identification tomaintain a strong focus on health and safety.
• Taking care of yourkit: Being responsiblefor the company assets and plant assigned to you.
• Representing uswith pride: Treating internaland external customers with respect and providing supportwhenever needed.
• Following therules: Ensuring compliancewith all current client processes and procedures.
• Bringing yourexperience to the table: Utilizing yourbackground in a similar operational or engineering environmentwithin the telecoms industry.
• Communicating likea pro: Interactingeffectively and professionally with both internal and externalclients.

Requirements

What skills and qualifications do you need?

• Avalid UK driving license: You'll be on the move,connecting communities.
• Proven street works skills: You're confidentworking on the public highway.
• Industry-recognised qualifications to the followingstandards are ESSENTIAL:

o NRSWA - Units1 – 9: Your ticket to working safely on the roads.

o CSCS: Yourcommitment to construction safety.

o CPCS (MiniDigger): Your expertise in operating essential machinery(at least one member of a gang).
