Job summary

Yolk Recruitment are delighted to be working with an established and growing law firm in Cardiff who are looking to appoint a Civil Litigation Solicitor with 1-3 years' PQE to join their busy litigation team.

You will manage your own civil litigation caseload from instruction through settlement or trial, handling a varied range of disputes including contractual and debt claims, property disputes and landlord/tenant matters.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' PQE in civil litigation or dispute resolution.
• Experience managing your own litigation files.
• Knowledge of CPR and pre-action protocols.
• Strong client communication and drafting skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and case milestones.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own civil litigation caseload from instruction to settlement or trial.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, and applications.
• Advise clients on merits, risks, costs and settlement.
• Coordinate with Counsel and experts as needed.
• Ensure AML/regulatory compliance and file management.
• Attend hearings and mediations.

Civil Litigation Solicitor

Location: Cardiff
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £38,000 per annum

Yolk Recruitment are delighted to be working with an established and growing law firm in Cardiff who are looking to appoint a Civil Litigation Solicitor with 1-3 years' PQE to join their busy litigation team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is ready to take ownership of their own caseload, work directly with clients and develop their litigation experience within a supportive and established team.

The Role

You will manage your own civil litigation caseload from initial instruction through to settlement or trial, dealing with a varied range of disputes including:

• Contractual and debt claims
• Property and boundary disputes
• Landlord and tenant matters
• Claims under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016
• Professional negligence
• Contentious probate and Inheritance Act claims

Key responsibilities will include:

• Advising clients on merits, risks, costs and settlement
• Drafting pleadings, witness statements and applications
• Managing cases in accordance with the CPR and relevant protocols
• Dealing with disclosure, case management and court deadlines
• Preparing and responding to Part 36 offers
• Negotiating with opponents and attending mediations
• Attending hearings and interim applications
• Instructing Counsel and experts where appropriate
• Managing client retainers, costs and billing
• Maintaining accurate files and complying with AML and regulatory requirements

You will have genuine autonomy over your files, with experienced colleagues available for support when required.

About You

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor with 1-3 years' PQE and experience gained within a busy civil litigation or dispute resolution environment.

You should have:

• Experience managing your own litigation files
• Good knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and pre-action protocols
• Experience drafting statements of case and witness statements
• Strong client communication and drafting skills
• Good commercial judgement around risk, costs and settlement
• The ability to manage competing deadlines effectively
• Confidence dealing with clients, opponents and professional advisers
• Familiarity with electronic filing systems, MCOL and the Civil National Business Centre

Experience in contentious probate, property disputes, employment matters or Welsh-specific legislation would be advantageous.
