Locum Civil Litigation and Prosecutions Solicitor

Local Authority based in South-East England

3 months rolling contract

Full time, 35 hours, Fully Remote Working Considered.

Venn Group is working with a fantastic local authority in London in their search for a Civil Litigation and Prosecutions Solicitor on an Locum basis for an initial 6-month role (with the potential to be extended)

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in managing civil litigation matters, including debt recovery, Section 106 agreements, injunctions, adult social care debt, and some housing litigation.
  • Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and reviewing documents relevant to civil litigation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and experience in preparing cases for court proceedings.
  • Advocacy experience in County Court and Magistrates' Court hearings, particularly in Basildon.
  • Expertise in advising on Council policies related to investigation procedures.
  • Ability to handle a diverse caseload of prosecution cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Manage a variety of civil litigation cases , focusing on debt recovery , Section 106 agreements , and adult social care-related claims .
  • Conduct legal research , draft and review relevant legal documents to support the council's litigation and prosecution work.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, conducting advocacy when required in County and Magistrates' Courts .
  • Advise on and support Council investigation procedures , offering legal guidance where necessary.
  • Oversee a caseload of prosecutions , ensuring all cases are handled effectively and within the required legal frameworks.
