Job summary

Arup is offering a 10-12 month Internship for Civil Engineering undergraduates. You’ll work alongside skilled professionals on real projects from day one, learn from leaders, and begin building your professional network ahead of graduation.

The placement is dedicated to sustainable development and includes regular learning sessions with the leadership team, site visits to local projects, and a range of social events to support your development.

Qualifications

  • Undergrad Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and MicroStation desired.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assessment, analysis, and design, producing reports, drawings, calculations and specs.
  • Develop infrastructure designs for urban development sites including transport, utilities and drainage.
  • Collaborate with Arup colleagues across disciplines.
  • Attend client and local authority meetings and site visits.
  • Utilise software such as Infodrainage, GIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise, ACC, Navisworks, Infraworks, Plant3D, InfoWorks, Python, and Copilot.

On this 10-12-month Internship you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity. You'll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There will be regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development.

In this role you will be aligned to:

  • Carrying out assessment, analysis, and design, preparing design reports, drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Developing infrastructure designs for development sites in the urban environment, including urban transport, site infrastructure, pavements, utilities and drainage design solutions.
  • Collaborating with Arup colleagues in other disciplines.
  • Meeting with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders, including site visits.
  • Using specialist analysis and design software such as Infodrainage, GIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise, ACC, Navisworks, Infraworks, Plant3D, InfoWorks, Python, and Copilot.

You will an undergraduate in Civil Engineering or equivalent with skills in Civil 3D, MicroStation.
