Job summary

Advance TRS is seeking Civil Engineers with UK-based wastewater infrastructure experience to join a growing detailed design team in a hybrid role. You will contribute to the design and delivery of wastewater networks and rehabilitation projects, coordinating with senior engineers and external stakeholders.

The role requires at least 2 years of UK wastewater experience, a civil engineering degree, and familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' UK-based wastewater pipeline design and sewer infrastructure experience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with hydraulic modelling tools is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support detailed design and delivery of wastewater networks, rising mains and trunk sewers.
• Provide technical input into pipeline rehabilitation and renewal projects.
• Assist with design development, planning and optioneering of schemes.
• Ensure designs comply with Water Industry Standards and UK regulations.
• Develop designs for pumping stations and gravity sewer systems.
• Undertake condition assessments and feasibility studies for rehabilitation.
• Coordinate technical drawings under senior review; liaise with utilities and regulators.
• Attend client meetings and site visits to support project delivery.

Civil Engineer - Wastewater Infrastructure

Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 (dependent on experience)

Location: Falmer, Brighton - Hybrid, with a South of M25 focus and occasional team days in Slough

Type: Permanent, Hybrid

About the Role:

Our client is looking for multiple Civil Engineers with UK-based experience in wastewater infrastructure to join their expanding detailed design team.

The role will support the detailed design and delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects, working alongside senior engineers across wastewater networks, pipeline rehabilitation and renewal projects.

For the first month, you will be required to attend our client's Slough office for induction and to embed with the team. After this, the role will move to the stated hybrid working arrangement.

About the Client:

Our client is a rapidly growing UK-based engineering consultancy with an expanding detailed design team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the detailed design and delivery of wastewater networks, including sewerage rising mains and trunk sewers.
• Provide technical input into wastewater pipeline rehabilitation and renewal projects.
• Assist with design development, planning and optioneering of wastewater infrastructure schemes.
• Ensure designs comply with Water Industry Standards, Sewerage Sector Guidance and relevant UK regulations.
• Develop designs for pumping stations, rising mains and gravity sewer systems.
• Undertake condition assessments and feasibility studies for wastewater asset rehabilitation.
• Ensure designs integrate effectively with existing networks and treatment facilities.
• Supervise and coordinate the creation of technical drawings, subject to senior review and approval.
• Liaise with water utility companies, contractors and regulatory bodies to support project delivery.
• Attend meetings with clients, local authorities and internal teams alongside senior engineers.
• Support site visits, surveys and inspections as required.
• Provide technical input into contractor methodologies, construction planning and risk management discussions.

What Our Client is Looking For:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in UK-based wastewater pipeline design and sewer infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of rising mains, sewerage systems and drainage hydraulics.
• Experience working to Sewerage Sector Guidance, Water UK standards and relevant BS EN standards.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, MicroDrainage or EPANET.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to attend site visits as required.
• Experience using hydraulic modelling and pipeline design tools is desirable.
• Knowledge of surge analysis, transient flow and pressure management is desirable.
