Are you passionate about improving road safety and creating safer environments for all road users? Aberdeenshire Council is seeking enthusiastic candidates with some experience in highway engineering or collision investigation and an interest in road safety.

About the Role:

The Road Safety Engineer is a specialized role within the Strategy Team. You will develop your expertise in road safety engineering and contribute to the council's efforts to enhance road safety.

You will be a part of the Road Safety team, assisting in the delivery and development of policies for road safety measures to meet Aberdeenshire Council’s statutory and legislative obligations. This includes implementing the Aberdeenshire Council Road Safety Plan, including the Safe Systems approach, and working with partners in the Road Safety Partnership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting collision data analysis to identify high-risk areas.
  • Designing and implementing road safety improvement schemes.
  • Developing strategies to reduce accidents and enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, external agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Providing technical expertise on road safety audits and engineering interventions.

The role requires a commitment to quality service delivery and continuous improvement for the benefit of the service and organization.
