Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to plan and oversee the construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience and a strong knowledge of CAD software. This role involves collaboration with architects and contractors, analyzing materials and ensuring structural integrity, contributing to significant public works projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience with Computer-aided design.
• Good knowledge of British and International Standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyse configurations of the basic components of a structure.
• Calculate the pressures, stresses and strains that each component will experience.
• Consider the strength of various materials to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design.
• Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs.
• Examine structures at risk of collapse and advise on improvements.
• Make drawings, specifications, and computer models for contractors.
• Work with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions.
• Liaise with contractors to ensure newly erected buildings are sound.
• Apply expert knowledge of the forces acting on structures.
• Use CAD technology for simulation.

Prepare and review engineering plans, blueprints, and specifications

Education
