As Civil Engineer, you will provide technical guidance and solutions on a range of potable water infrastructure capital projects, being involved from early conception to final completion. Reporting to a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for your own technical deliverables, which will be associated with the wider Capital delivery programme for infrastructure and non-infrastructure capital investment.

The role includes ensuring quality and CDM2015 compliance of technical delivery, utilizing the company's engineering specifications and quality assurance processes. The role requires reviewing and implementing appropriate procedures and principles. Although this role offers hybrid working, you will be expected to travel to any location or site within South East Water’s supply areas as required, such as pre-construction and construction phase meetings, defect reviews, etc.

Main responsibilities:

  • Check and review project scopes to ensure they achieve the required outputs.
  • Provide technical solutions and support on intermediate capital projects, including producing Scope Documents, Design Drawings, CDM Documents, and compiling job specifications and works information, to required deadlines.
  • Undertake checking of others' work for technical acceptance.
  • Mentor Graduate Civil Engineers and apprentices at the project level.
  • Liaise with internal and external third parties to seek approvals and facilitate projects.
  • Conduct site visits for audits and provide guidance to contractors.

What do you bring to the role?

  • HNC, HND, or degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Working towards Chartership.
  • Knowledge of CIWEM standards and specifications (advantageous).
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Civil Engineering standards and practices.
  • Experience in the utility industry, preferably in potable water.
  • Experience in design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets.
  • Demonstrable experience in the water sector industry.
  • Strong awareness of industry standards and specifications.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and their application.
  • Understanding of CDM 2015 and its application to projects.
