Job description

Civil Engineer required for our client who are a growing consultancy in Norwich.

You will be comfortable with creating Civil engineering designs, based on your calculations using software or from first principles and any research conducted.

You should have experience with AutoCAD and be able to utilize strong design skills in order to create visual aids. By utilizing strong organizational and communication skills, you will also have the ability to execute a project based on the criteria outlined.

Our client is a multi-disciplined company that have a great reputation for working on prestigious buildings and the offshore sector predominantly, although onshore projects are also a key part of the role.

It is essential for the Civil Engineer to have a variety of design and project experience as our client are multidisciplinary and projects can vary.

Civil Engineer Position Overview

• The Civil Engineer will be assisting the day to day running of Civil Engineering projects as part of a team with the ability to work alongside other engineers.
• Preparation of associated drawings from concept stage through to construction.
• Support and coaching of other team members in undertaking technical work and report writing.
• Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up designs that satisfy technical specifications.
• Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
• Hand over the resulting structures and services for use.
• Monitor progress and compile reports on project status.
• Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc. and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.

Civil Engineer Position Requirements

• The candidate must have at least 3 years+ of relevant civil/structural design experience.
• Chartered or currently studying for chartership in either ICE or IStructE or equivalent.
• Civil engineer able to prepare designs, check drawings & write, review and accept civil engineering scopes for designers and contractors with minimal supervision.
• Ideally experience in a Civil Infrastructure design consultancy.
• Sound knowledge of engineering principles, technical drawings, and planning data.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil3D, Vehicle Tracking, MicroDrainage or relevant Drainage Design software and AutoCAD.
• Growing civil engineering expertise as well as maintaining and developing Client relationships.
• Co-ordination of multi-disciplines requirements with the development of civil engineering solutions.
• Hands-on surveys and using design and technical standards Eurocodes / BS standards.
