Job summary

ALTEN is recruiting a Civil Engineer to support one of the UK’s largest nuclear infrastructure programmes in Bristol. The role involves adapting and developing critical civil documentation, ensuring transfers and updates align with project requirements in a multidisciplinary setting.

You will work on technically complex projects, with a 3-day on-site expectation and 2+ years of experience. BPSS clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structures, Tedds, Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and engineering documentation practices.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams on large programmes.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review gap analysis on BTS documentation.
• Participate in project kick-off meetings and technical workshops.
• Collect data and identify engineering updates for project requirements.
• Update BTS documentation to reflect design changes and modifications.
• Submit updated documentation for technical review and incorporate feedback.
• Produce final engineering documentation packages for issue and deployment.

Join ALTEN and play a key role in the delivery of one of the UK’s largest nuclear infrastructure programmes. You will support the adaptation and development of critical civil engineering documentation across major new‑build energy projects, ensuring engineering solutions are transferred, assessed, and implemented in line with project requirements. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you’ll contribute to technically complex programmes that will help shape the future of low‑carbon energy generation in the UK.

Location: Bristol
On‑site Requirement: 3 days on‑site
Seniority: 2+ Years Experience
Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain BPSS clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and review gap analysis activities on existing Basis of Technical Specifications (BTS) documentation.
• Participate in project kick‑off meetings and technical workshops with client and project stakeholders.
• Conduct technical data collection activities and identify engineering updates applicable to project requirements.
• Update BTS documentation to reflect agreed design changes and engineering modifications.
• Submit updated documentation for technical review and incorporate feedback from stakeholders.
• Produce final engineering documentation packages for issue and project deployment.

Required Skills

• Experience using STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structures, Tedds, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles and design methodologies.
• Knowledge and practical application of Eurocodes within engineering projects.
• Experience producing, reviewing, and updating technical engineering documentation.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams on large‑scale infrastructure programmes.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working within the nuclear or energy sector.
• Knowledge of engineering document management and configuration control processes.
• Familiarity with design review, verification, and validation activities.
• Working towards or holding professional registration with a recognised engineering institution.
