Job description

Civil Engineer – CCUSProject

Location: North Wales

NES Fircroft are delighted to be partnering with a Construction industry giant on their Energy Transition journey, supporting the development of a CCUS project in Wales.

The client is looking for a Civil Engineer to join the project on a contract basis to work Monday to Friday on site full time 5 days per week. In return candidates will be offered strong day rates of pay and the chance to work on a flagship client project progressing the UKs journey to a energy transition industry.

Role Overview As a Civil Engineer in the CCUS division, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and execution of infrastructure supporting carbon capture and storage systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of CCUS projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee construction of civil infrastructure for clean energy facilities, including foundations, access roads, and pipeline corridors.
  • Conduct geotechnical and structural assessments for CO₂ capture and storage sites.
  • Support permitting and regulatory compliance efforts, including environmental impact assessments.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams and external contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to design, safety, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to innovation in sustainable construction practices and materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Proficiency in civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro).
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical, structural, and environmental considerations in large-scale projects.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
  • Qualified Civil engineer with 10 – 15 years project experience minimum.
  • Ideally, we are looking for a civil engineer that can review design drawings during detailed design phase but also someone who is used to being out on-site doing inspections as well. So, someone with design and site experience will be great.
  • Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy project experience
  • To be based at the Padeswood site but also with the ability to travel within the UK.

Preferred

  • PE license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with pipeline routing and CO₂ transport infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of carbon capture technologies and regulatory frameworks.
