Civil Engineer, Sheffield

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Civil Engineer to join a growing infrastructure team within a well-established consultancy. This is an opportunity to take on a central role in the design and delivery of diverse civil engineering projects, including highways, drainage, earthworks and public realm infrastructure. The position will involve working closely with colleagues across structural and environmental disciplines, as well as with clients, local authorities and other external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and checking detailed designs, producing technical drawings, specifications and reports, and ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of technical quality, safety and regulatory compliance.

You will contribute to projects from concept through to completion, assisting with planning submissions and supporting the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies. Site visits and input during the construction phase will also form part of the role, providing valuable exposure to all stages of project delivery.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • You should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and be working towards Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers or a similar professional body.
  • A strong knowledge of drainage and highway design principles, together with proficiency in industry-standard software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, PDS and AutoCAD, will be essential.
  • Familiarity with Section 278, 38 and 104 agreements, along with a good understanding of planning and adoption processes, will also be expected.

In return, you will be joining a forward-thinking consultancy that offers the chance to work on a varied and exciting project portfolio, alongside a supportive environment for your professional development. This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer who is eager to progress their career and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, sustainable infrastructure projects across the UK.
