Job description

We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Civil Engineer based at Preston, with hybrid working options and regular site visits expected.

You will report directly to the RDL and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. Your responsibilities include coordinating the design and producing design documents and drawings, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and are practical for construction and commissioning.
• Utilizing standard practices wherever possible.
• Providing estimates and feedback to the proposals department.
• Following procedures and processes to support departmental development.
• Monitoring and reviewing these procedures and processes.
• Writing, updating, and implementing efficient procedures for smooth departmental operations.
• Coordinating designs with all internal and external disciplines to ensure cohesive contract execution.
• Fostering a culture where customer satisfaction is key, considering all beneficiaries of our processes.
• Considering environmental issues in design.
• Ensuring designs comply with health and safety standards.

Essential qualifications include understanding principles of water and sewage treatment. Minimum: relevant discipline Engineering HND. Preferable: relevant Engineering degree. Skills include rationalizing designs, producing economical layouts, data assimilation, clear presentation of proposals, and computer literacy.
