To strengthen our civil engineering capabilities and bring fresh ideas to our processes, we are looking for Civil Engineers to join our team!

What will you be doing as our new Civil Engineer?

You will work as a skilled Civil Engineer within a multidisciplinary project team, providing civil engineering expertise and design capabilities to develop and deliver water and water recycling solutions.

Key responsibilities:

• Produce civil designs, calculations, and specifications to ‘Issued For Construction’ standards for water, wastewater, or pipeline projects, working directly with CAD technicians to produce 3D models or 2D drawings.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet standards, engaging with stakeholders including Operations, contractors, and suppliers.
• Promote health and safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks, complying with Alliance CDM procedures.
• Progress projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction phases.
• Conduct site visits to assess asset conditions, support feasibility studies, and gather survey data for design integration.
• Assist in updating and expanding the use of Standard Products within our design solutions.
• Identify and promote opportunities aligned with digital, sustainability, innovation, and people objectives.

Your skills, experience, and behaviors:

Ideally, you will hold at least an HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, with extensive experience in civil engineering. You should be comfortable communicating with various stakeholders and possess strong reporting, writing, and data analysis skills to understand challenges and suggest improvements.

Experience or understanding of the following is advantageous:

• Reinforced concrete design to BS EN 1992
• Concrete specifications to BS 8500-2
• Service reservoir design
• Portal frame (steel building) specifications and basic design concepts
• Masonry design and detailing
• Ground engineering and earthworks specifications
• Buried pipework design from P&ID, including material selection, sizing, layout, and detailing for water and wastewater systems
