Job summary

Align Property Services is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing team and deliver highways, drainage and external works across the region. You will take on greater ownership from design through to delivery on live projects.

The role offers hybrid working, professional development through the ICE Training Scheme, and a clear pathway towards IEng/CEng with diverse project exposure.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent via apprenticeship route).
  • Experience or strong interest in highways and drainage design.
  • Confident communicator who enjoys collaborative, multi-disciplinary working.
  • Motivated to progress professionally and take increasing responsibility.
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards).

Responsibilities

  • Delivering civil engineering designs across highways, drainage and external works.
  • Producing 2D and 3D models using Civil 3D, including alignments, surfaces and earthworks.
  • Preparing technical designs, calculations and reports for planning and approvals.
  • Coordinating with architects, structural engineers, highways engineers and QS teams.
  • Supporting approvals with statutory bodies (e.g. S38, S278, S104).
  • Attending site visits and contributing to the resolution of technical queries.

We’re looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing team and play a hands‑on role in delivering highways, drainage and infrastructure projects that support communities across the region.

What you’ll be doing
  • Delivering civil engineering designs across highways, drainage and external works
  • Producing 2D and 3D models using Civil 3D, including alignments, surfaces and earthworks
  • Preparing technical designs, calculations and reports for planning and approvals
  • Coordinating with architects, structural engineers, highways engineers and QS teams
  • Supporting approvals with statutory bodies (e.g. S38, S278, S104)
  • Attending site visits and contributing to the resolution of technical queries

Our Civils team is currently delivering a diverse portfolio of challenging and rewarding projects across the region. This includes a full septic tank replacement scheme at Watchtree Nature Reserve in Carlisle, taking designs from feasibility through to construction support within a sensitive rural environment. We’re leading highway and drainage design for a major infrastructure project at Selby Train Station, integrating SuDS features and coordinating works in a complex rail‑adjacent setting. In Hambleton, the team is undertaking full estate road and drainage design for a 100+ unit residential development, including SuDS strategy and Section 38/104 processes with close liaison with the Local Authority and statutory undertakers. We’re also supporting a fast‑paced commercial scheme in Easingwold, providing comprehensive civil engineering design for a new supermarket and petrol filling station covering levels, drainage, highways interfaces, earthworks and multi‑disciplinary coordination.

Who we’re looking for
  • Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent via apprenticeship route) with post qualification experience
  • Experience or strong interest in highways and drainage design
  • Confident communicator who enjoys collaborative, multi‑disciplinary working
  • Motivated to progress professionally and take increasing responsibility
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards)

Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD or drainage modelling software is beneficial but not essential.
