Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Civil Engineer with experience in drainage design to join a growing UK consultancy based in Harrogate. You will work on a varied portfolio of infrastructure projects, delivering practical drainage solutions from concept through to construction while collaborating with a skilled team.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering, knowledge of SuDS and UK design standards, and be comfortable using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering design, focusing on drainage.
• Knowledge of SuDS, surface water and foul drainage design principles.
• Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D; drainage software beneficial.
• Understanding of UK design standards and legislation.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a team.
• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Produce foul and surface water drainage designs for developments.
• Prepare drainage strategies and SuDS designs.
• Undertake flood risk assessments and support planning applications.
• Design highways, external works and related infrastructure.
• Liaise with local authorities, statutory bodies and multidisciplinary design teams.

The Opportunity

As a Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure projects, working closely with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.

You will be responsible for:

• Producing foul and surface water drainage designs for a variety of developments.

What You'll Bring

To be successful in this Civil Engineer role, you should have:

• Experience in civil engineering design, particularly drainage design.
• Knowledge of SuDS, surface water and foul drainage design principles.
• Experience using industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with drainage software experience beneficial.
• Understanding of UK design standards and relevant legislation.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team.
• A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous but is not essential.
