Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Gloucester team. You will lead civil infrastructure design for diverse developments, with emphasis on drainage and SuDS, roads, and highways.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate with clients and approving bodies, and contribute to planning and technical submissions, enabling strong career progression within our supportive, award-winning consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Civil Engineer with 5+ years' UK consultancy experience.
• Strong background in drainage and infrastructure design.
• Experienced in preparing Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Statements, and Service Reports.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, and ideally Civils 3D or other ground modelling tools.
• Some experience in vehicle swept path analysis (AutoTrack or similar).
• Strong client-facing communication and project management skills.
• Chartership (CEng/ICE) is desirable but not essential - full support is available to achieve this.
• Able to lead and coach junior staff while managing your own technical delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver civil infrastructure design for a variety of private and public developments.
• Manage and support a project team (apprentices through to engineers), providing mentoring and design guidance.
• Undertake and review detailed design of: Drainage and SuDS strategies and systems (surface & foul water); Road and pavement layouts, earthworks and site levels; Highway works including s.278 and s.38 design; Drainage agreements including s.104, s.185 and permitting; Prepare technical reports including Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Statements, Utilities Assessments, and Service Strategy Reports; Produce and review technical drawings from concept through to construction; Liaise directly with clients, stakeholders and approving bodies; Attend project and site meetings, lead design reviews, and contribute to planning and technical submissions; Develop and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to new business development.
