Civil Engineer

Role Overview

As an Engineer within the Civil Engineering Team, you will be a subject matter expert at Drax Power Station. You will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence and making key engineering decisions. Your role includes liaising with and managing a large consultancy and contractor resource.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Engineer in delivering the Business Plan
• Develop strategies for maintaining aging and constructing new civil assets
• Support team members and serve as a point of contact for civil engineering enquiries
• Manage stakeholders, including internal departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and designers
• Produce specifications and project scoping documents
• Ensure work packages are delivered to standard and manage risks
• Ensure compliance with legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policies
• Manage contracts, including negotiations, tendering, and supervision of contractor work

Candidate Profile

• Technical competence in reviewing designs, calculations, and methodologies per British Standards, Eurocodes, and Temporary Works
• Experience as a consultant or design manager in civil infrastructure and building projects within the construction industry
• Excellent communication skills for engaging at all levels within the business and managing multiple stakeholders
• Relevant university degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
