Overview
We are currently recruiting for Civil Engineers to join our UK design team. As an Engineer you will deliver the civil design content of water industry projects as part of a multi-disciplinary design team. The position is permanent and hybrid, ideally based in or around Birmingham, Telford or Derby, but applications from candidates across the UK are welcome for regional offices or remote work. A full driving license is a prerequisite for this role. The role primarily supports our long-term Severn Trent Water framework, with opportunities to work on other projects and frameworks across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Undertake elements of water infrastructure design under minimum supervision within multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff.
- Obtain, analyse information, and report on findings.
- Prepare and present engineering solutions (drawings, reports, calculations, etc.).
- Produce engineering drawings, reports and undertake site surveys.
- Develop designs in accordance with client requirements and relevant design standards to achieve fit-for-purpose and cost-effective solutions.
- Work collaboratively within a team to maintain good relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Apply health, safety and welfare principles (e.g., CDM Regulations) to designs.
Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant degree qualification; working towards an additional professional qualification is preferred. Relevant equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong technical background in the design of water/wastewater infrastructure; open to applicants from related disciplines.
- Computer literate with MS Office and a basic knowledge of engineering packages such as AutoCAD.
- Strong written and oral communication and organisational skills; ability to produce clear reports in English.
- Proven ability to lead and work within a team to meet project deadlines; client-focused approach to service delivery.
- Self-motivated with drive to achieve continuous improvement targets; strong health and safety focus.
