Job description

We are currently recruiting multiple Civil Design Engineers (Water), ideally with experience in wastewater networks and/or clean water networks, for various major long-term water industry frameworks across the UK.

In addition to a range of long-term programmes across the UK water industry, Tetra Tech and RPS have successfully secured a £100 million single-award framework from United Utilities to support river health improvements in Northwest England.

Tetra Tech has a longstanding partnership with United Utilities on innovative projects. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting time in the water industry, offering opportunities to create positive change through collaboration with passionate organizations.

Under this 10-year framework, Tetra Tech will focus on program optimisation, developing solutions, and selecting options based on value, low carbon footprint, and cost. Our mission is to deliver exceptional water services that foster resilience, eco-friendliness, and community prosperity.

This role is primarily based in the North West, but other locations may be considered.

About The Team:

Our team comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy support to water industry clients. We thrive on innovation, dedication, and teamwork to meet client needs.

Beyond the United Utilities framework, we work with several major water companies across the UK, managing a diverse portfolio of long-term frameworks. Our Water Consultancy offers numerous programmes leading into AMP9 and beyond, providing long-term career development and legacy opportunities.

About You:

You will be a vital part of our Water Consultancy team, working with multidisciplinary experts on capital delivery projects. Your contributions will include optioneering, designing, and developing solutions for technically demanding wastewater infrastructure projects.

Joining us means working on impactful projects that benefit millions across the UK, leaving a lasting legacy. You will collaborate with leading water companies and ensure positive community impacts. If you're eager to apply your skills in a dynamic, innovative environment, we invite you to join us.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Engaging with clients to understand their needs.
  • Creating outline and detailed design drawings, along with construction-ready documentation.
  • Providing input on feasibility assessments and optioneering.
  • Producing well-organized calculations, reports, drawings, and documentation.
  • Collaborating with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Mentoring graduate engineers and supporting their professional development.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Proven proficiency in technical design across disciplines within project environments.
  • Strong motivation, influencing, and people management skills.
  • Good knowledge of British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice, and Water Specifications.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical field; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • Membership or near-membership with a professional institution like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.
What We Offer:

Personal development plans and clear career pathways, supporting your growth at your pace. We value diverse ideas, perspectives, and styles, fostering an innovative environment where everyone’s contribution matters.

Our careers are unique—here, you're part of the solution, not just a number.
