Job Description

Civil Design Engineer (Roads and Drainage) Recruitment is working closely with a successful multidisciplinary consultancy with a global presence. With over 1,000 design awards to their name, they continue to lead the way in high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Their Manchester civil engineering team is growing, and they are now seeking a Civil Design Engineer with 3 to 7 years of experience to support the delivery of infrastructure design (roads, drainage, and public realm) for a wide range of building and regeneration projects.

You will be joining a talented, collaborative team working on complex and high-profile developments across the North; from masterplans and new public spaces to sustainable urban infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Produce infrastructure designs from concept through to construction stage
2. Assist in the preparation and review of technical reports and design specifications
3. Work closely with internal teams, external consultants, architects, and clients
4. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and CDM regulations
5. Undertake Section 38, 278, and 104 designs
6. Carry out drainage design (including SuDS) and pavement layouts
7. Support more senior engineers with project delivery and coordination
8. Contribute to multidisciplinary design meetings and problem-solving discussions

About You:

You’ll have a solid background in civil engineering design within a consultancy environment, particularly in roads and drainage. You’re comfortable using standard industry software and can confidently manage your workload on both small- and large-scale projects.

Skills & Experience:

• Civil engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
• Experience designing drainage and highways/public realm schemes
• Familiarity with Section 38, 104, and 278 design processes
• Competent in AutoCAD and MicroDrainage
• Experience using Civil 3D for road and ground modelling is desirable
• An understanding of flood risk assessments and mitigation is a plus
• Strong communication and coordination skills
