Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Construction Planner to support planning, monitoring and control of major civil engineering projects across the UK. Based in Coventry or Ashby-de-la-Zouch with travel to sites nationwide, the role develops programmes from tender through to completion and helps identify risks for informed decision‑making.

The ideal candidate has NEC contract experience, proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project, and strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with Project

Qualifications

• Experience in a planning role within civil engineering or construction.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project delivery.
• Experience using planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Proficient in NEC contracts, with ability to understand contract requirements and support planning, reporting and change management.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
• Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Develop Project Programmes: create and maintain detailed programmes from tender stage through to completion.
• Monitor Project Progress: update programmes to reflect actual performance and support reporting.
• Identify Critical Path Activities: review sequencing, highlight programme risks and support delivery.
• Produce Look‑Ahead Programmes: prepare short and long‑term look‑ahead programmes for stakeholders.
• Analyse Delays: review delays, assess impact and recommend recovery strategies.
• Monitor Project Resources: track labour, plant, materials and subcontractor resources against requirements.
• Prepare Programme Reports: produce clear updates for meetings and reviews.
• Support Tender Planning: assist with tender planning and pre‑construction activities.
