NRL Recruitment is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of major civil engineering works in Newcastle. You will lead on-site activities, ensure safety, quality, and efficiency across earthworks, highways, drainage, and structures.

The role demands strong leadership, commercial acumen, and programme management, with the ability to coordinate design teams, site engineers, and project managers to drive timely, within-budget delivery of complex infrastructure schemes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience as a Construction Manager in civil engineering projects (infrastructure, highways, drainage, or major groundworks)
• In-depth knowledge of civil construction techniques and relevant compliance standards
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop and manage diverse site teams
• Strong commercial and programme management understanding
• Proficiency in site and project management systems

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all on-site activities for civil works, ensuring compliance with design and specification requirements
• Manage earthworks, highways, drainage, structures, and associated infrastructure to programme and cost objectives
• Oversee subcontractors and supply chain partners, ensuring strong adherence to schedules and quality targets
• Implement rigorous health, safety, and environmental controls across all project stages
• Monitor progress, mitigate risks, and produce accurate project reporting for stakeholders
• Drive efficient resource allocation and cost control to maintain project viability
• Foster effective communication between design teams, site engineers, and project managers to ensure smooth delivery
