Job summary

Newton Abbot Town Council invites applications for a permanent Chief Executive Officer to lead a dynamic town council. The role is the council’s proper officer and strategic leader, guiding staff, partnerships and civic initiatives to deliver outcomes for residents.

You will oversee a diverse portfolio, including services, assets, heritage, events and cultural programmes, while navigating political contexts and preparing for future local government changes.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior leadership, governance and financial oversight of a significant budget.
• Ability to navigate political environments and build trust with partners, staff and residents.
• Calm, collaborative leadership with good judgement and strategic vision.
