A vibrant and inclusive Mixed Comprehensive School in Hounslow is seeking a dedicated and passionate Citizenship Teacher to join our Humanities department. We are looking for an educator who can inspire students to become active, informed, and responsible citizens. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering critical thinking, social responsibility, and a deep understanding of democratic processes.

About the Role:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging Citizenship lessons across Key Stages 3-5, including A-Level.
  • Develop and implement innovative lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, debate, and analysis of current affairs and political systems.
  • Facilitate student-led discussions and debates, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for diverse perspectives.
  • Assess student progress through presentations, projects, written essays, and participation in mock elections and debates.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Citizenship curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and engaging.
  • Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as debating clubs and student councils, to promote civic engagement.
  • Collaborate with other Humanities teachers to create interdisciplinary projects and learning experiences.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in Citizenship, Politics, Sociology, or a related social science.
  • Proven experience teaching Citizenship to A-Level, with a focus on political literacy, active participation, and understanding of global issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • A deep commitment to promoting social justice, equality, and civic engagement through education.

  • Strong knowledge of current political and social issues, both nationally and internationally.
