Job summary

Fuse Games in Guildford is seeking a Cinematic Artist who loves crafting engaging cinematics, collaborating with Narrative, Animation and Audio to raise visual quality. What a Cinematic Artist does at Fuse Games

As a Cinematic Artist at Fuse, you are someone who loves creating engaging cinematics full of excitement and drama, and collaborating with other crafts to deliver them to our players. Ideally, you’re a hands‑on developer who likes to get involved in multiple areas and loves to be in‑engine. Actively looking for ways to innovate and improve the quality of our games and how we work.

This role will see you collaborate closely within the Narrative, Animation and Audio teams as well as other crafts to define how we build cinematics that deliver on visual quality.

We are looking for talented folks with a growth mindset and must be highly competent in these areas:
  • Skilled with cinematography and editing concepts and how to apply them to enhance narrative and player feedback.
  • Ability to communicate vision early, using tools such as previs, ripomatics or even rough storyboards for effective iteration.
  • Comfortable using a mix of motion capture, hand keyed and procedural animation techniques to deliver content.
  • Good knowledge of in engine workflow, able to help lead and develop our cinematic pipelines to deliver runtime and FMV sequences.
  • Happy building game‑ready cinematics from scratch and collaborating with external studios
  • Working with concept and craft leaders to help achieve art direction and visual quality
  • Proactively seek and respond well to feedback, using it to iterate and continually improve the quality of their work

Additional attributes we also appreciate:

  • Passion for pushing visual quality and production techniques rooted in a solid understanding of technical issues in regards to cinematics
  • Prior experience working in video games beneficial
  • Prior experience on Motion Capture or Live Actions sets, working with actors and/or camera crew beneficial
  • A positive can‑do attitude with the ability to take initiative and produce results
  • Love of art and games
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a talented team
  • A strong knowledge of software such as Maya/Motionbuilder, Premiere/Resolve, Compositing Software
  • Experience using Unreal Engine for Cinematics
