Job Description:
As a CICS System Programmer, the candidate will be part of a global team responsible for building, configuring, and maintaining the bank’s mainframe systems to ensure availability, efficiency, and resilience. This involves managing cloned infrastructure, system configurations, and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mainframe CICS software upgrades and administration, supporting environments with CICS version 5.6.
- Provide 24/7 technical support to minimize service outages or disasters.
- Analyze new CICS versions for performance improvements and cost reduction.
- Track and analyze CICS system performance and resource utilization.
- Recommend system changes, upgrades, and enhancements based on analysis.
- Diagnose and resolve problems.
- Participate in incident and problem management activities related to applications and CICS.
- Collaborate with users and vendors, fostering a can-do attitude.
- Manage projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Develop operational documentation, best practices, and run books.
- Upskill junior programmers.
Mandatory Skills:
- 10+ years of experience installing or customizing mainframe CICS software in large data sharing environments.
- 5+ years of experience with CICSplex and CICS Explorer for managing CICS systems.
- Understanding of resource definitions and dependencies.
- Knowledge of CF structures in a business context.
- Experience with Omegamon, Fault Analyzer, and dump analysis using IPCS.
- Experience with cloning and sunsetting CICS regions.
- Basic understanding of CICS security with RACF.
- Experience working with SMF 110 records for problem determination.
- Strong problem-solving skills in system and application areas.
- Experience with high availability environments and ITIL processes.
- Familiarity with vendor tools for CICS and z/OS tools like SDSF, RMF.
- Experience automating CICS events using CICSplex RTA or system automation tools on z/OS.
