Aberdeen has a large Anaesthetic department providing a comprehensive range of clinical services, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and training programs. The department is recognized for its expanding research activities and support for local, regional, and national professional activities.
The medical school, a state-of-the-art clinical skills centre, and renowned research institutes are on site, offering opportunities for collaboration and development in research and teaching.
The NHS Grampian is undergoing significant developments, including the Baird Family Hospital, the new National Treatment Centre, and becoming Scotland's first Major Trauma Centre, along with a new Emergency Medical Retrieval hub, providing diverse areas for professional growth.
The position involves 10 Programmed Activities, with 8 in Direct Clinical Care and 2 in Supporting Professional Activities. On-call duties are approximately 1:8 and non-resident.
Part-time and flexible working arrangements, including annualized job plans and job sharing, will be considered.
Full GMC registration and a license to practice are required before starting. Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or being within 6 months of GMC Specialist Register entry is necessary. Alternatively, CESR or CESR (CP) qualifications are acceptable.
Applicants with appropriate specialist training not on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a locum position (up to 12 months).
