Job description

Finding Relief Through Music: A Three-Part Progressive Facilitation

Join Jonathan in a unique three-part facilitation session, where music becomes a tool for processing chronic pain and illness.

Research highlights music as one of the most effective non-pharmacological methods for pain relief—offering a space to focus beyond the body and into sound, rhythm, and creative expression.

What to Expect:

  1. Guided breathwork meditation exploring drone work to center and stabilize yourself
  2. Communal music exercises to connect, harmonize, and affirm our shared journey
  3. Creative expression through music, poetry, movement, or improvisation — use your craft on or off your chosen instrument
  4. A supportive space to explore what serves you and let go of what doesn’t

Session Plan

  • The first session focuses on 'Witnessing Your Own Pain'
  • The second on 'Witnessing Your Truth Away from Internalized Ableism'
  • The third session centers on creating a vessel to 'Shift the Relationship with Pain' and recognize your superpowers.

About Our Host: Jonathan

Jonathan's expertise as a brass session musician has trained him in exploring the breath through the traditions of Blues, Jazz, and Ambient Music, genres built on holding, witnessing, and expressing pain.

As a composer for MATTERS UNKNOWN and NUBIYAN TWIST, he has found a unique vessel for his journey with amputation and chronic pain. This series aims to empower you to find agency through music. Whether you’re an experienced musician or simply curious, this space is for you.
