Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Practitioner Psychologist (Band 8a) to join the Chronic Pain Service. The role is 22.5 hours per week, across Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and other UHB sites, delivering specialist assessment, formulation, and tailored therapies for chronic pain in a collaborative MDT setting.

Qualifications

• Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling/health psychology with BPS accreditation.
• HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
• Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for people living with chronic pain.
• Deliver evidence-based psychological therapies tailored to patients with persistent and complex pain.
• Co-lead the multidisciplinary Pain Management Programme.
• Contribute psychological expertise to multidisciplinary team clinics and discussions.
• Work with medical, nursing, physiotherapy and other colleagues to support integrated patient care.
• Support patients to develop strategies for managing psychological and wider impact of chronic pain.
• Contribute to development and evaluation of psychological provision within the Chronic Pain Service.
