Job Description:
Job overview

The post holder will be a key member of the Child Health Information Services (CHIS) Team, directly reporting to the CHIS Coordinators. They will participate in the daily operations of the CHIS service, generate regular reports, and ensure that CHIS data on the system is accurate and up-to-date.

The North Yorkshire and York cohort includes all children aged 0-19 living in the area, registered with local GPs or attending local schools.

The purpose of CHIS and its supporting systems is to maintain accurate active records for each child in England, supporting public health interventions such as screening, childhood and adolescent immunizations, and services outlined in the NHS Public Health Functions Agreement and the Healthy Child Programme.

Main duties of the job

CHIS manages data and statistical information to support services for children and young people aged 0-19. This includes handling notifications of new births, children moving in or out of the area, requesting records, and updating the child health system accordingly.

CHIS collaborates with Maternity services to receive initial birth details and NHS numbers, acts as a central repository for the Newborn Blood Spot Screening Programme, and supports local delivery of national screening and immunization programs.

The post holder will also assist in gathering information and preparing reports for statutory returns, ensuring deadlines are met.

The role involves manipulating large data files for bulk uploads into CHIS SystmOne Unit, such as immunization data, and running reports including exception reports.
