Job summary

Cambian Group Plc is seeking a Senior Team Leader to support and guide our care teams for young people aged 8-18 with complex needs. You will lead shifts, ensure staff development, and maintain strict safety and care standards across the service.

You will work in a dynamic environment with strong team support, progression opportunities, and a focus on delivering high-quality care outcomes. A UK driving licence is required for travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to achieve Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • 12 months experience in a Residential setting is highly desirable.
  • DBS and reference checks will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment practice.
  • Recruitment process may extend due to the nature of these important checks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
  • Ensure the residential care team complete mandatory learning and development.
  • Communicate with on-site team and update care plans and their implementation.
  • Maintain accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets and files for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Contribute to staff meetings and support young people in education.
  • Travel with young people to and from School or College.
  • Prepare meals and maintain the home (cleaning, laundry etc.) throughout the day.
  • Organising and facilitating social activities.

The working day can be very unpredictable and you could find yourself spending the entire morning Organising activities and the afternoon providing 1:1 support.

Shift Pattern: 16>24 Hour (including Sleep-in) on a one on two off or two on four off basis.

The young people in our care range between the ages of 8-18 years of age and have a range of behavioural and emotional needs.

Of-course - no day is the same here at the Cambian Group, however here is what a day in the life of one of our Senior Team Leader could look like:

  • Leading shifts and deputising for the Registered Manager where required
  • Ensuring that our incredible team of Residential Care Workers are up to date with all mandatory learning and assisting with their individual development
  • Communicating with the on-site team and raising awareness with regards to individual care plans and their implementation
  • Maintaining accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets and files both to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place
  • Contributing to team and staff meetings to facilitate good communication and staff developmentProviding support and care to the young people within our services
  • Encouraging our young people in their preparation to re-enter education or to engage in their current schooling
  • Traveling with our young people to and from School or College
  • Preparing food at meal times and maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry etc.) throughout the day to ensure a wonderful environment for the young people in our care
  • Organising and facilitating social activities

Within this service, we support young people of mixed age and gender and continually have incredible successes. The young people we support are very well adjusted to school and are achieving great marks and participating in a number of activities.

Requirements:
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Must have the desire to earn a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent Children & Younger Peoples workforce
  • 12 months experience working in a Residential setting is highly desirable but we do also encourage applications from those at the start of their journey
  • Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
  • Whilst we endeavour to keep the recruitment process as short as possible due to the nature of these important checks it may extend the processing time.
