Job Title: Support worker/Personal Assistant

Hours per week: 3.5 hours a week every Sunday; plus an additional 3.5 hours during the school holidays (days/times to be discussed at interview).

Location: Colwyn Bay, Conwy

Rate of pay: £14.80 per hour.

About me

I am a 14-year-old young boy with autism and developmental delay. I am non-verbal, so good observation skills and patience are appreciated. I am looking for a PA who has experience supporting a young person with a disability, is caring, reliable and friendly. The PA will accompany me to my interests and hobbies, help expand my social horizons, and encourage me into new activities. At times my brother and his PA will be with us when we go out.

Required: full UK driving licence and access to a car.

Task and duties
  • To provide encouragement & support in relation to interests & hobbies, such as indoor play areas. Encourage to access and explore new and suitable activities.
  • Communication is via gestures rather than language, so it is essential that you have patience and excellent observation skills, to ensure needs are met.
  • To accompany when using public transport, for which a bus pass will be provided. On occasions his brother’s PA will take responsibility for driving to places of interest.
  • To prepare light snacks as required, giving due regard to food hygiene & specific dietary requirements.
  • To provide support with changing clothing when required.
  • To support with the maintenance of personal hygiene, to assist with toileting.
  • To encourage physical and emotional development & feelings of social inclusion.
  • To always carry a mobile phone. This must be kept always charged and in credit.
  • To ensure that due consideration is always given to Health & Safety.
  • Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed. Undertake any further training if required.

The role is dependent upon a DBS and 2 references.
