Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has recently become available at Walsall Council. They are looking for a new member for their Duty and Assessment Team.

Details of the role:

  • As a Duty and Assessment Social Worker, you will undertake assessments and provide immediate support and intervention for children and families in need.
  • You will respond to new referrals, conduct initial assessments and visits, and develop support plans focused on the child's welfare.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure safeguarding and effective intervention.
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory requirements.
  • Present cases at Child Protection Conferences and court proceedings as necessary.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in Duty and Assessment or Children’s Services teams.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation such as the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a complex caseload.
  • Experience working within a local authority setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
