Details on the role:
Time limited project opportunity for an experienced qualified children’s Social Worker to work within Shropshire for approximately four months in order to focus on progressing discharge of Care Orders for children placed with parents and applications for Special Guardianship Orders for children already in the care of connected carers or foster carers under Care Orders. This small dedicated team is supported by a project lead who has oversight of all work undertaken as part of the project and by additional capacity in our legal department in order to progress these discharges and enable children to live without ongoing statutory intervention. Children will only transfer into the project once they are assessed as ready to discharge. Experience is required around working with children who are accommodated, their families and carers. Experience is essential around writing timely child and family assessments and court statements – specifically writing placement with parent assessments, discharge statements in respect of Care Orders and SGO assessments. Candidates need to be skilled at organising their diary and keeping focus on task, also experienced and confident enough to be able to work within a small independent team and progress all allocated discharges within the lifetime of this project.
