Job Title: Team Manager – Children’s Social Work Team
Location: Doncaster (Hybrid Working)
Rate: £37 – £40 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: Full-time – 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Temporary (initial 3–6 months, with likely extension)

Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Team Manager to join a busy Children’s Social Work Team in Doncaster. This role offers hybrid working, with a competitive hourly rate of £37 to £40 per hour, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will lead and support a team of social workers responsible for delivering high-quality, statutory services to vulnerable children and their families, ensuring that assessments, plans, and interventions meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide clear leadership, supervision, and direction to a team of qualified social workers

Ensure the effective allocation and management of caseloads in line with statutory requirements and performance targets

Oversee the completion of high-quality assessments, plans, reviews, and reports (including court work)

Monitor and drive performance, quality, and compliance through regular audits, reviews, and supervision

Support staff development and wellbeing through reflective supervision, mentoring, and training

Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and that children’s welfare remains at the heart of all practice

Actively participate in management meetings and contribute to service development and improvement initiatives

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, police, and legal teams

Lead and contribute to strategy discussions, child protection conferences, care planning meetings, and PLO processes

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Proven experience as a Team Manager or Senior Practitioner within a statutory children’s social work setting

Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and associated statutory guidance

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

Confident in decision-making, risk assessment, and crisis management

Enhanced DBS check (on the update service or willing to apply)

Ability to work both remotely and from the office when required

Competitive hourly rate of £37–£40/hour
