Job summary

The Cambian Group Plc is seeking a Senior Support Worker for residential care services in the South West region. You will lead shifts, support a team, and ensure quality care for young people aged 8–18 with behavioural and emotional needs.

You will help young people re-enter education or continue their schooling, travel with them to school or college, and participate in planning, recording, and evaluating care plans. A rewarding role with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Desire to earn a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • 12 months senior experience in a Residential setting is highly desirable.
  • DBS and reference checks will be undertaken in line with government regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
  • Ensure the care team stay up to date with mandatory learning and development.
  • Communicate with on-site team and implement individual care plans.
  • Maintain accurate written records, logs and continuation sheets.
  • Contribute to staff meetings and support team development.
  • Provide care and support to young people and encourage education.

Children's Residential Senior Support Worker

Shift Pattern: 16>24 Hour (including Sleep-in) on a one on two off or two on four off basis.

Of-course - no day is the same here at the Cambian Group, however here is what a day in the life of one of ourSenior Support Workerscould look like:

  • Leading shifts and deputising for the Registered Manager where required
  • Ensuring that our incredible team of Residential Care Workers are up to date with all mandatory learning and assisting with their individual development
  • Communicating with the on-site team and raising awareness with regards to individual care plans and their implementation
  • Maintaining accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets and files both to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place
  • Contributing to team and staff meetings to facilitate good communication and staff development
  • Providing support and care to the young people within our services
  • Encouraging our young people in their preparation to re-enter education or to engage in their current schooling
  • Traveling with our young people to and from School or College
  • Preparing food at meal times and maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry etc.) throughout the day to ensure a wonderful environment for the young people in our care
  • Organising and facilitating social activities

Requirements:
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Must have the desire to earn a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent Children & Younger Peoples workforce
  • 12 months senior experience working in a Residential setting is highly desirable but we do also encourage applications from those at the start of their journey
  • Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
