Role Overview

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in offering emotional and practical support to young people experiencing mental health issues. You will work closely with individuals to develop personalized care plans, provide crisis intervention, and connect them with appropriate resources. Your goal will be to help them build resilience, develop coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to children and young people
  • Develop and implement tailored care plans in collaboration with other professionals
  • Offer crisis intervention and ongoing emotional support
  • Facilitate access to mental health services and community resources
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of interactions and progress
  • Participate in regular training and development opportunities

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in mental health support, particularly with young people
  • Resilient, empathetic, and patient with a strong understanding of mental health issues
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with young individuals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities

Desired Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent
  • Additional training or certifications in mental health support
