Job description

Purpose of the Job: You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, managing and providing clinical and case management supervision to team members. You will also handle your own caseload and deliver MHST interventions in schools. The team primarily includes Qualified and Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners delivering group and individual low-intensity CBT interventions to children and young people, along with support packages for parents/caregivers. You will have an active caseload of children and adolescents with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties, using evidence-based therapeutic models.

Low-intensity, early interventions will be delivered across various education settings (primary, secondary, colleges). This role includes training education professionals and developing the team’s capacity to serve the whole school community, including caregivers. You will work with CYP and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, using interpreters when necessary, and must be committed to equal opportunities. Collaboration with colleagues and partners such as the Local Authority, SET CAMHS, education settings, and other mental health providers is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervision and Management
   • Provide clinical and case management supervision, including observations and modelling, to team members undergoing EMHP training in CBT.
   • Support EMHPs in developing relationships with education settings and delivering a Whole School Approach.
   • Assist EMHPs in their clinical progression and risk management.
   • Ensure data is inputted into EPR (Iaptus) within 48 hours of clinical contact.
   • Liaise with educational settings and training universities as required.
   • Attend partnership meetings related to MHST and represent the service as needed.
2. Clinical and Client Care
   • Assess and develop evidence-based treatment plans for CYP with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties.
   • Support self-management and collaborate with children, families, and educators in care planning.
   • Deliver evidence-based, low-intensity interventions to CYP aged 5-18.
   • Ensure assessments and interventions are inclusive and respectful of diversity.
   • Conduct risk assessments and support supervisees in doing the same.
   • Maintain comprehensive records and use outcome measures (e.g., SDQ, RCADS).
   • Report clinical outcomes and service access data accurately.
   • Promote mental and emotional health through clinical interventions.
   • Manage caseloads effectively and participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
   • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to enhance access to services.
   • Contribute to clinical and training materials development.
3. Teaching, Training, and Supervision
   • Provide advice, consultation, and training across schools and agencies.
   • Receive regular supervision and support safeguarding cases.
   • Monitor progress against access targets and develop plans to meet them.
4. Professional Standards

   • Develop local knowledge of mental health services and facilities.
   • Ensure safety and risk issues are communicated appropriately.
