Your new role
Southend-on-Sea City Council is looking to appoint a permanent Children with Disabilities experienced Social Worker to provide an efficient and cost-effective service to children, young people, and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed. Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available; however, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.
You will be responsible for providing professional and comprehensive casework to a caseload of children and young people appropriate to your experience and capabilities. You will support children with disabilities and their families while maintaining a safeguarding approach to protect children.
Additional duties include preparing and submitting reports, statements, and care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings and County/High Courts. You will also liaise proactively and work in partnership with other agencies, organizations, parents, and carers.

You must be able to work in the UK, hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have completed your ASYE. Previous experience working within Children with Disabilities and knowledge of child protection, LAC, and related social work practices are essential. You should also have an understanding of the framework for assessing children in need and their families, attachment theory, enabling change, and behavior management.
