Job Description:

Job purpose:

• Implement positive change in complex cases involving children, families, and carers using systemic social work methods, models, and tools, aiming to promote independence.
• Lead and oversee professional judgments within relevant legal and policy frameworks.
• Conduct safeguarding enquiries, support related work, and assist children, families, and carers in developing and executing appropriate plans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage and monitor a high-need, complex, and challenging caseload with a degree of autonomy; develop casework and inform management of irregularities or serious issues.
• Conduct in-depth assessments, develop care plans, review activities, and formulate support recommendations.
• Collaborate across networks, communities, and agencies.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and contribute to responses involving children, families, carers, and professionals.
• Coordinate work across different networks and agencies.
• Take initiative to build constructive alliances and act as a change agent.
• Work independently while collaborating with other professionals on equal terms.
• Maintain high knowledge of legislation, regulations, and departmental procedures related to working with children, families, and carers.

Requirements:

• Social Work Degree
• Registration with Social Work England
• Knowledge of complex social work theories, values, research, and their practical application using current evidence
• Up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards relevant to children
• Experience in direct work with children, including needs and risk assessments
• Significant post-qualification experience
• Experience managing complex and challenging cases
• Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain one
